Good morning!

I have a brief market update and four resources to share with you this week. Let’s dig in…

Market Update

+ The S&P 500 was up another 3.04% for the week.

Although market volatility is down from the peak, we’ve witnessed a powerful rebound off of the March 23rd lows. Following a big week last week, the market edged up another 3% this week.

Here’s the daily performance for the S&P 500…

  • Monday: -1.01%
  • Tuesday: +3.06%
  • Wednesday: -2.20%
  • Thursday: +0.58%
  • Friday: +2.68%

…the S&P 500 is now -15.1% below it’s all time high (2/19/20) and +28.5% off the most recent low (3/23/20).

Joe Sangl

I had the priveleage of meeting Joe Sangl back in 2008. Joe is passionate about helping people win with their money. The best way to describe Joe to someone who has not met him is that he reminds me of a modern day Dave Ramsey. But, as you’ll discover in this interview not everyone even knows who Dave Ramsey is. That’s what I love about Joe. He is fired up to help people in his own unique way.

Joe’s mission is “to help people accomplish far more than they ever thought possible with their personal finances.” He firmly believes that when people are financially free, they are much more likely to go do EXACTLY what they have been put on Earth to do – regardless of the income potential.

Joe is the author of several books, and he speaks around the country at 90-100 events every year teaching people about personal finances.

This past week, Joe was a guest on The Invested Dads Podcast. He discussed his latest book, 2020 Money: Gaining Clarity for your Financial Future! He shared some methods for discovering and achieving your dreams as well as some financial advice you can use to accomplish your long-term goals.

Tony Hixon

Tony is my good friend and business partner. Tony is also passionate about helping people win with their money. Specifically, Tony wants to see you retire well. Tony has a unique story which more people need to hear. They will hear it soon enough as he’s working on a book of his own to be released next year. I can’t wait for the release as I already know it will be a great way to help many by sharing some very personal experiences.

While we wait for Tony’s book release there are two ways to get a glimpse into Tony’s story and how he hope’s to help others:

  1. Last summer Tony was interviewed by…well, another Tony…Tony Miltenberger that is. You can listen to the interview on Pastor Tony’s website, or on the Apple Podcasts app.
  2. Follow Tony on Facebook. He has great thoughts to share that you won’t want to miss.

Bear Market Brews

This past week, we hosted the fourth and final virtual happy hour in our series called, Bear Market Brews.

This week we discussed 9 ideas that are impacting the markets:

  1. COVID-19 curves are flattening.
  2. There is a lot of talk of re-opening the economy sooner than later.
  3. Oil prices rebounding as production is cut.
  4. Jobless claims came in at 5.2 million vs forecast of 5.5 million.
  5. Small business loans have met funding limits ($350 billion).
  6. Stock market volatility is calming down.
  7. Stock market breadth is rising.
  8. The stock market trend is changing direction.
  9. The direction of the market is at a key resistance level.

Since this was the last event in our Bear Market Brews series (atleast for now), I’d like to extend a huge “THANK YOU” to all of you who have participated in these events. They were a lot of fun!
