Perry Noble, pastor at NewSpring Church, has a great two-part blog post on leading a team. Perry is an excellent leader himself. He leads NewSpring which has gone from a small church of 15 people in a living room to a church with multiple sites and attendance of around 15,000 in less than 10 years. It’s obvious to me that God has blessed his leadership. You might want to pay attention to what he has to say.
Here are Perry’s 8 principles for leading teams:
- You Will Never Effectively Motivate Someone With Feelings Of Guilt
- People Don’t Respond To Need–They Respond To Vision
- A Person Cannot Be Held Accountable For Unspoken Expectations
- Keep Short Accounts
- Don’t Be Afraid To Set High Standards
- Beware of the All Star
- Each Team Member Is A Human Being
- Ask Questions
